Our Services

Initial Consultation

This is a one-to-one chat with one of our Neurodivergent Specialists to explore what difficulties you may be experiencing and discuss how we are able to support your specific needs. This is a collaborative discussion where we will seek to develop an understanding of how best to support you.

Differential Screenings

Our screening service is conducted by an appropriate clinician in order to identify any potential neurodivergence. A screening takes the form of a Neurodivergent Specialist consultation, during which the clinician will determine the most appropriate NICE recommended and research validated screening tools. You will review some of these with the clinician and you may be asked to fill some in at home after the consultation. The clinician will review the results of the screening and write you a report. A differential screening will include a formal referral letter which we are able to provide directly to your GP, which may shorten NHS waiting times.

Neurodivergent Counselling

Neurodivergent Counselling is available through our online clinic via video call or instant messenger, as a telephone appointment, or asynchronously through email. All our counsellors provide 45min one-to-one sessions that are undertaken by a trained counsellor who has experience counselling neurodiverse individuals and is themselves neurodiverse.

Neurodivergent Coaching

Neurodivergent Coaching is available through our online clinic via video call or instant messenger, as a telephone appointment, or asynchronously through email. All our Coaches provide 45min one-to-one sessions that are undertaken by a trained Coach who has experience coaching neurodiverse individuals and is themselves neurodiverse. Our one-to-one support sessions are intended to help with post-diagnosis, life reframing and with living as a neurodivergent person in a neuro-normative world.

We have previously provided: Staff training in affirmative neurodiverse interaction for supporting clients and also for supporting staff members; environmental consultations on creating a neurodiversity supportive setting; Neurodiversity accessibility checks in established environments; Neurodiversity accessibility checks for websites. If you would like to discuss your consultancy or training needs, please contact us and we will arrange an informal discussion with an appropriate staff member to see how we can support you.

Autism Assessment

At Able Minds we believe in supporting Neurodivergent people to build our lives so that we are able to live in a happy, healthy, and enjoyable way, and we know that happy, healthy, and enjoyable, looks different to different people

Our research showed that one of the primary things that makes it hard for Neurodivergent people to develop their wellbeing is a lack of recognition and systemic support specific to their unique needs

The support that is needed by Neurodivergent people can often only be accessed by providing professional communication that is presented using the ‘Medical Model’ of disability. This can be particularly disheartening for the individual as it places all the focus on what neurodivergent people CANNOT do, in a very black and white way

At Able Minds, we want you to have access to the support you need for your wellbeing, we offer an Autism Diagnostic assessment, facilitated entirely by Neurodivergent professionals that takes a collaborative approach to understanding your presentation

We use the ‘Gold Standard’ and NHS favoured tools, the ADOS-2 and the ADI-R, and follow the NICE recommendations for assessment, ensuring all assessments are conducted by Autism specialized clinicians and considered by a Multi-Disaplinary Team (MDT) of no less than three professionals trained in at least two different areas of specialty. This allows us to provide you with a ‘Medical model’ report that is intended to support you to access services, while also providing support for you to positively re-frame your history and develop ways of supporting your wellbeing around the impact your Neurodivergent needs have on your life.
